In May, the EU Trade Commission may propose to impose more than 30% of punitive tariffs on Chinese solar panels to protect European manufacturers.
Reuters quoted diplomats as saying that EU Trade Commissioner Karel Degut will propose to impose punitive tariffs on China's solar panels at the EU countries' trade representative meeting on the 8th and is expected to receive support. According to relevant EU regulations, relevant temporary tax measures will come into force before June 6.
However, even if the EU issues a preliminary decision at that time, there is still room for negotiation with China to solve the problem. If the negotiation is successful, the punitive tariff measures that can be implemented for five years can be avoided.
The European Commission launched countervailing investigations on solar panels imported from China, involving Chinese enterprises' exports to the EU of up to 21 billion euros (about $27.6 billion), which was called a "double anti" case involving a large amount of money in the history of the EU by insiders.
